WORK VS PRIVATE
Describe your average work day:
Every morning at 07:00am I start exercising. After that I have many conversations and team meetings. In those conversations I guide my teams to get the best out of themselves so that the employees of the city of The Hague perform well for the residents, visitors and companies in the city of The Hague.
Describe your average day off:
After exercising, I like to drink coffee with friends or family. I live near the beach, so a visit to the beach is always nice. I also have a lovely garden that I really enjoy sitting in.
What makes you really happy?
If I can connect and / or inspire. It is wonderful to see people grow or to give new insights through connection. If I succeed at that, I have a great day!
What irritates you the most?
Saying yes but doing no. Not following up on agreements and consciously / unconsciously opposing when you have the best intentions for something.
Who inspires you and why?
Lots of people around me! I enjoy my employees achieving things, friends breaking through their own glass ceiling or my husband taking steps in his career. Wonderful to see and to absorb that energy!
What is your favourite place in the world?
Madrid and / or Thailand! But closer to home is my garden (with 4 palm trees and 8 fruit trees / bushes, also very nice!).
What is vitality to you?
Ensuring that you are in good mental and physical condition. In addition, I also think it is important that you get energy from your private life (do you have good people around you) and that you have nice work (I think you are the biggest contributor to that). So fit for life, healthy private life and fit for and in your job!
How do you take care of your own vitality?
I exercise 5 times a week, eat healthy, laugh a lot and enjoy the smallest things!

What is (are) your best tip(s) to share with others?
Always start with yourself! A burnout (I am an expert by experience) is not the end, but a new beginning. Give others what you would like to receive (in leadership, but also in your private life), do not judge, but see that there are other ways and Ask! Ask! Ask!
The Hague is a unique city: multiform, international and the only major city located by the sea. We are proud of it. At the same time, we have a responsibility for the life and well-being of 500,000 inhabitants. For the quality of life in a city where people of 180 different nationalities live, work and stay.
